The mangosteen is a tree that grows naturally in Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its evergreen foliage and very slow growth. Its purplish, medlar-like fruits have a thick rind that contains four segments of white, translucent flesh with a delicately smooth taste reminiscent of lychees.
