Vitamin B-12 is required for energy production from fat and protein and is well known for its critical role in DNA synthesis as well as homocysteine metabolism. Methylcobalamin is the coenzymatic form of vitamin B-12 that has been found to be especially critical in maintaining a healthy nervous system.

Dietary sources are almost exclusively animal (meat and dairy) and B-12 supplementation may be especially important for strict vegetarians. NOW ® Methyl B-12 is vegetarian/vegan (not animal derived).
